In May 2008 my Grand Daughter, Matilda was born weighing a tiny 5lbs 2ozs.
She was born with Spina Bifida and numerous other health problems, such as Epilepsy, Hydrocephalus, Dislocated hips and knees, Talipes, Neuropathic bladder and bowel, Autism and Global Development Delay.
We went through operation after operation and to date (2019) this little lady has gone through over 50 operations. 😥
It was obvious to everyone that Matilda is a fighter but she is also stubborn. Administering her medicine was often an issue, so much so, that she was given a feeding tube.
The feeding tube was certainly a game changer but it came with it’s own issues. As most parents of children with tubes will know the skin around the peg became very sore and irritated.
I have always been very crafty so I decided to do some research to see if I could make something that would stop her delicate skin getting so sore.
It took a long time of trial and error to get it right but finally I found the perfect combination to make these covers.
Our covers are made out of 3 layers;
The top layer is cotton and we can customise them with a huge range of different fabrics.
The middle layer is the inner core which is made up of a 100% cotton wadding, superior absorbing layer.
The bottom layer which is in contact with the skin is made from superior bamboo terry for whisking away any leakage BUT this also has natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties which helps to soothe and heal the skin.
There is no one else in the world using this design, it is unique to the Medi-Buddies© Brand and we are very proud to be able to create these.
